The Estonian National Male Choir’s “Collaboration / Koostöö” series consists of three concerts for those who expect something more from a concert than music alone. Across these three carefully curated programmes, you will encounter different artists, different concepts and completely different experiences. No two evenings will be alike!

Autumn begins with an inspiring and deeply atmospheric evening. In November, coloratura soprano Elina Nechayeva, organist Ulla Krigul and the Estonian National Male Choir, conducted by Mikk Üleoja, will create a soundscape perfectly suited to the reflective season of All Souls’ time — a meeting point of sacred music, lyrical femininity and the powerful sonority of a male choir.

The January concert takes the audience on a journey into the world of male-choir music, curated by conductor Valter Soosalu, where the distances are measured in landmark works for male choir. Spanning a journey from Perotinus to the present day, the musical route will be placed in its broader cultural and historical context by cultural historian Marju Kõivupuu. Her warm and engaging vignettes will shape the concert into an entertaining and enlightening experience for audiences of all ages.

In March, the Estonian National Male Choir presents its first explicitly feminist concert performance. The script has been written by Andra Teede, who, together with actors Katariina Tamm and Piret Krumm and the Estonian National Male Choir, explores a series of provocative questions: Has woman finally become a human being, or are we still entitled to demand a gentle smile from her and expect her to produce offspring on command? Can a woman be a matriarch and a Madonna at the same time — and why are women still referred to as snakes and a flock of hens?

Each concert lasts 1 hour.

Please keep your series pass with you for the duration of all the concerts.
